Legal FAQ
If I submitted content under the original version of the site, am I bound to the terms of the new submission agreement?
No, you are not. We will be contacting you as soon as possible to get proper legal permission for the content you submitted.
What do you mean by "press and publicity purposes"?
Due to the success of Cinema Treasures, our organization frequently appears in newspapers, magazines, and other media outlets. In addition to providing interviews, we are often asked to supply photographs of classic movie theaters.
Since getting permission to use several dozen images can be extremely time-consuming, we are now asking for the right to use your photographs for press and publicity purposes without seeking permission for each use. Thanks in advance for your help!
If you provide my photograph to the media, will I receive credit?
Yes. Cinema Treasures will make every effort to see that your receive credit for your image, though we cannot be held responsible for instances when you do not receive credit.
If I give you the right to use my photographs for other projects, how will my photos be used?
We give photographers the option of giving us the right to use their images in future Cinema Treasures projects, such as books and documentaries. Of course, we understand that not every photographer will be comfortable giving us this right, so it's a completely optional section of the contract.
What if I don't choose to give you additional media rights?
No problem. If we need to use your image(s) for a future media project, we'll contact you directly to seek permission.
Can I submit photographs that do not belong to me?
This is a complicated issue, with no single answer. You can submit whatever photographs you would like, but if you are not the original photographer or copyright holder, or if the image is not in the public domain (sometimes the case with older images), we will not be able to post the photo on our website.
Why do you ask for a non-exclusive right to use my theater submission and comments?
Cinema Treasures would not be possible without the contributions of our users. Since this is the case, we must ask for a non-exclusive right to all theater submissions and comments, so that we can incorporate your submissions into our theater guide and any future projects.
I found a photo on a website. Can I submit it?
Yes, you can, but, again, we will not be able to post it. We do, however, often work with you to find the original source of the image and ask them for proper permission. So, if you find an image you'd think we like, feel free to submit it, but please understand if it doesn't get added to the site.
