Ken Roe, Theater Editor“I am a founder member of the Cinema Theatre Association and have organised over 80 visits for the association which has now almost 1,500 members world-wide. I was honoured to be made a 'Life Member' of the C.T.A. in April 2003. I have a vast library of books from all over the world which deal with the specific subjects of cinemas & theatres and when I travel I seek out those buildings to photograph and document them.”
Michael Zoldessy, Blog Editor“Growing up in New York, my favorite thing to do was go to the movies. I was so enchanted by film that I even began writing screenplays in high school. Only years later once I moved to Los Angeles and became aware of its numerous movie palaces did I realize that more than the actual movies, I am a fan of the moviegoing experience. Since then, theater history and preservation have been a passion of mine.”
John Coursey, Mapping Volunteer“One of my earliest and fondest memories was attending, with my grandmother, a matinee performance at the Roxy Theatre in downtown Atlanta, GA. Although I can not remember the film which was showing, I can still recall much of the fantastic detail of this showplace. I love cinemas of all types, with a particular fondness for those built between 1938 and 1967.”
Monika Seitz Vega, Mapping Volunteer“My strong interest in film and cinemas began when I was in high school. A job at a lonely single screen theatre a friend managed started what would become many years of being a manager and/or projectionist at several different art theatres. I'm now a photographer in southern California, and I seek out historic theatres whenever I travel. Photographing theatres -- whether they're still in use, wonderfully restored, or long past they're prime -- causes me to feel that in my own small way I am contributing to the history, memories, and magic of the location.” Also, special thanks to our previous volunteers: Bryan Krefft, Sean Doerr, William Gabel, Roger Katz, Paul Salley, Grant Smith, Chad Irish, Ian Grundy, and Robert Burger. |
