Prince Edward Theatre, Sydney

I was employed at the Prince Edward theatre Sydney from 1961 until it closure on 4 December 1965 with the Paramount film War and Peace. It screened to a capacity house of 1500 with a final standing ovation from the audience which lasted for some 15 minutes.
Noreen Hennessey played on the Grand Wurlitzer her favorite number Donkey Serenade, she really loved that one and always took a bow as the house lights went down before the main feature started. I have worked in a number of theatres since then until I retired two years ago and the Prince Edward “Theatre Beautiful remains the best and a privilege to be part of it’s history. Ron Townsend
