VINELAND, NJ — The Landis Theatre, which reopened as a performing arts center in May, is inaguranting a once-a-month classic movie series in addition to its live performance offerings. The first film will be 1961’s “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”

“It was always kind of in our thoughts and our plans to do a film series,” Hickman said. “It was just a matter of getting in touch with the right movie house.”

The Landis originally opened as a movie theater in 1937. It showed hundreds of films on the silver screen (and two screens at one time) until it permanently closed in 1987.

Landis Theater was renovated and reopened in May as a performing arts center, part of an ambitious plan to rejuvenate downtown Vineland. Already, it has played host to some movie events.
