French slideshow of shuttered NY treasures

Can’t say I know French, but the pictures in this slideshow from Le Monde do a lot of talking. Check it out.

Thanks for that, would really like to see the Bridgeport cinema. Nice lighting effects give a spooky feel. Some might get a chance to see the exhibition of the photos in Paris, mentioned at the end of slideshow.

I don’t speak French, so the narration didn’t help me, but the photos are amazing and certainly worth looking at.

Never heard of Loew’s 46th street. I wonder if the caption in the show was wrong about it being in NY. The Proctor’s photo was interesting because it appears as tho there were a lot of windows in the auditorium.

Loews 46th street was in New York and has its own page with lots of photos on Cinema Treasures.
