Why doesn’t Moore simply put up the money himself? He’s rich.

I agree with KenLayton- Moore is wealthy and can afford to fix up the theater himself. He downplays how much money he has so that he can pretend to be part of the “99%”. The theater apparently has lost many of its subscribers, also.

Michael Moore has put up a ton of money and time for this and many other theaters and causes. Michael has made many suits behind the scenes rich but he does not get all the money his films make.

And after Michael Moore is gone, then what? By lending his name to the effort, he might be able to mobilize long-term support to ensure that this theater will continue to exist.

Exactly, Trolleyguy! The money is only part of the problem. He’s building awareness and support for the effort. The more local people he can get involved means the more sustainable impact it will have.

Why have 60% of the State’s local membership left? That’s a huge drop in local support.

According to the Theatre Historical Society “readerboard” newsline today, the State has managed to raise $280,000 of $500,000 needed, and has begun repair work.
