ALBION, MI — Albion Community Foundation has been selected to support one of the 200 causes selected as finalists in the State Farm Neighborhood Assist™ program! Our submission, along with the other finalists, are live on Facebook and anyone who gets the State Farm Neighborhood Assist Facebook application can log on and vote for our cause. The 40 causes that receive the most votes will be announced on April 29 and a $25,000 grant will be awarded to the affiliated nonprofits to implement the solution.

The Bohm Theatre Restoration project will help us restore the interior of the theatre so that we can again have movies and stage performances in downtown Albion. In order to make the theatre safe we will upgrade all mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. In order to better meet the needs of the community we will remove the balcony multiplex, bringing the theatre back to its single screen grand appearance, stabilize the stage area for live performance use, add main floor bathrooms, upgrade existing bathrooms, install digital projection equipment and repair water damaged ceilings, walls and floors.

Our organization strives to improve the lives and welfare of people in our community, and we can further that mission by rallying together and encouraging others to join us in support by voting.

To support the Bohm Theatre Restoration and vote, visit the State Farm Neighborhood Assist Facebook app by [clicking here]https://www.state-assist.com/cause/55/bohm-theatre-restoration] get the application, then click on the “Vote” button to show your support for Albion and the Bohm Theatre. The voting phase is open from April 4 – April 22 and any Facebook user who gets the application is eligible to vote up to 10 times per day.

State Farm Neighborhood Assist is a crowd-sourced philanthropic initiative that lets communities determine where grant funding is awarded, exclusively through Facebook. The initiative utilizes the State Farm Youth Advisory Board to vet submissions for causes and allows Facebook users who download the free State Farm Neighborhood Assist application to vote for the final 40 grant winners. The program has been inspired by the incredible number of neighborhoods that are coming together to solve a problem or improve their community.
