Tinseltoes, you are correct. The Forum was in Ealing, on the Uxbridge Road. It’s listed on this site as the Empire Cinema, Ealing (The last name it had)
Ken, I seem to recall the Naturist Club never actually opened, as Surrey County Council wouldn’t grant a licence for it, even though it was fully fitted out for this use. It stood empty for a few years, until it was fitted out for pub use.
Full credit must go to Reel Cinemas for having the ba**s to have a go where the once mighty Odeon group failed. I wish them and all concerned the best of luck. Again there is a reason to visit York, well other than than to see the beautiful City, itself!
Ken,
Am I right in remembering this cinema being almost opposite the Odeon? Are there any pictures of it anywhere, as I remember the metal cladding, but don’t recall the glazed middle bit.
Sadly the building succumbed to a serious fire today, 12th March 2019.
Currently ‘For Sale’ for the guide price of £400,000, on Fleurets.com, reference W-93105

Currently For Sale, as a going concern for £750k!
Bongo Club sounds more fun, though.
A ‘Bongo Club’? In Gorton? How cosmopolitan!!

Kevin, so it is!
ouy knaht!
Where did it get the name ‘Noreik’ from?
Ken,
I think it was demolished earlier than 1979. I’m sure it had gone by 1970, but maybe my memory is playing me up.
To a certain extent I agree, but on the other hand, the Troc complex is a former cinema complex.
Is this the Cinema that Oscar Deutsch referred to as ‘our Drawing Room Cinema’, due to it’s size?
Thanks for that link, Lost Memory. It is full of superb pictures. It is, as you rightly say, damned slow!!
i drove past this building tonight. The hoarding now just says ‘Former Granada Cinema, For Sale"
Is the conversion still going to happen?
Ken,
A great name for a restaurant! Do you think they made a bit of a ‘balls up’?
Ken,
Where were the other Majestic’s?
D
Is this now the site of the Shell Petrol Station, called ‘Savoy" ? Are there any pictures available?
Thanks Ken, I thought for a moment that I was living up to my name!
I drive past this building every day. Such a waste to see it sitting there, gradually falling apart….
The basement ballroom is now a Lap Dancing Venue! Shame on Spearmint Rhino!
.
Ben,
That looks great. Let’s hope it happens.

The entire building is currently surrounded by hoardings, it looks as though demolition is about to happen…….
