Ironic that it was scheduled to be replaced by a K-Mart, whose era also ended with a big, dusty thud.

Wow, the ultimate indignity. Turned into a small town disco.

According to Google, it was still standing in 2018. Looking a little shabby, though.

Address should be 1601 Highland Avenue. And it’s currently for sale.

33.128763, -88.151652 Are we sure this place is gone? This article from 1989 mentions that the Aliceville Entertainment Complex was being built on the site of the old Palace Theater. If you look at the GPS cords, there’s something there that strongly resembles a theater.

This should actually be listed as 2744 E. Kearney St, Springfield, MO. The coordinates for the remains of the theater are at +37.23926, -93.23691. The sign still exists and says Holiday Theater quite clearly.

32.556978,-84.235911 This theater is likely gone. There is a building at this location with the distinctive red and yellow brick mix. Next to it is an empty lot that looks to be full of junk. Notice how the electrical service on the side of the building match up with the American Classics view from 1986.

Funny you should mention the plain facade. When I was photographing it, I was thinking that somewhere in Kentucky someone must have had a monopoly on that yellow brick for theaters. Seems like I see it an awful lot.

Bill Eichelberger commented about City Cinema Twin Drive-In on Jul 29, 2012 at 5:03 pm

Google Earth shows a Theatre Road just off of VA 17. No real evidence of any drive-in ramps, but a couple of spots that might have been of enough size to house a drive-in.

“The Flemingsburg City Council held their regular monthly meeting Monday, September 10, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Annex………

……..Councilwoman Sparks expressed concern over the condition of the old Princess Theatre. The building continues to fall down. Chief Sergent said it is a safety issue. It could fall into the street. Mayor Flanery stated that if it falls into the creek it will create a dam and if there is a hard rain it will flood the downtown. Gene Schwartz said the EPA had looked at it this past spring and said it was not ready to condemn yet. If the city condemns the property the city will have to pay for the demolition and clean up."
