Same here for world war z in 2d in theater 14. Also the amc first look was green hued which was annoying. The sound was good.

Saw White House Down in Theater 6 this weekend…The lights didn’t fully dim until the movie started. Previews were seen at full light brightness (Extremely annoying). Hopefully this was a glitch.

Has anyone seen After Earth in 4k at this theater? If so, how was the picture quality? The only showtime left for tomorrow is 3 pm, which doesn’t bode well for this box office flop. It will find better life on 4k bluray lol.

even amc rockaway 16 has a facebook page… As for 4k movies playing, After Earth is playing at this theater. Has anyone seen it in 4k? The reviews for this movie are not good, although one reporter gave it three and a half stars. I’ll probably give this movie a chance if it’s still in theaters before superman flies back into theaters in less than two weeks….

Just saw star trek into darkness in imax 3d and it was a blast. The 3d conversion was great and the surround sound was amazing.

Amc is working on it

What are the odds of getting a Dolby Atmos ETX system installed here? I really don’t want to drive to Paramus. I hear amazing things about the sound difference though.

Yesterday afternoon I went to see Iron Man 3 in liemax 3d with my dad. Upon purchasing our tickets at the box office, we waited in line until the ushers gave the go ahead for us to come in. The last time I waited in line for a movie like this I think it was Avatar in reald 3d. One thing i noticed was during the last few seconds of the preshow they mentioned to put on our 3d glasses soon. When the imax projector began with the AMC policy trailer, a few seconds of sound were silent then it came on. Then a few 2d trailers and then the 3d first look, after that some 3d trailers and then the 3d movie. Movie looked pretty decent for a 3d conversion plus the sound mix is amazing. Make sure you stay after the credits for a surprise. BTW, Fandango was down last night. Must be due to Star Trek tickets now on sale.

I really wish AMC would let us redeem our AMC Stubs for tickets on Fandango. Wouldn’t you think they would rather take $10 off a ticket rather than the huge margin they make on food?!

The bathrooms in this theater are very well cleaned. I love the drying machines. The popcorn with butter can be salty at times but i always have a giant soda with me just in case.

It benefits the studios. Oblivion was awesome in imax. Preshow had no picture but sound.

Ticket prices increased as of recently. .50 cent increase.

moviebuff82 on April 25, 2013 at 3:10 pm Finally…..hopefully regal follows suit alongside cinemark.

This is similar to the godzilla issue in 1998.

Disney is trying to raise the rental rates for movies, and the large chains are fighting back by not allowing pre-sale tickets for Iron Man 3. Reports are that AMC & Regal are leading this fight. Late information indicates that Carmike has reached a deal with Disney.

Here is a link to one story

Advance tickets for iron man 3 are postponed due to a fracas between disney and the theater chains.

Ive been busy as of late…not a lot of good movies playing as of late. Next one im seeing is 42 although oblivion looks great in 4k. I wonder if imax will install laser projection in the digital imax theater. The sharper the better.

moviebuff82, your weekly update of comments have fallen off dramatically. Everything ok?

Before I went to see Olympus has Fallen two days ago….i noticed something new…the front of the building now has a giant imax sign right next to the classic amc sign. The preshow abruptly ended when the trailers started. The presentation was very good and the sound mix was decent. Movie was good popcorn fun.

(At 1.78:1 60'ish width for the Rockaway IMAX and at 2.35:1 70'ish width for the Manville big screens I guess the total surface area is about the same for both so I guess they are sort of tied, along with likely a couple other digital IMAX screens, for largest in the state when they are all showing a film that matches the screen’s native native aspect ratio (although for 2.35:1 movies the Manville screen might look somewhat noticeably bigger while for 1.85:1 movies I guess the Rockaway would look bigger though).

Hard to be quite sure since the information seems to be closely held and hard to track down reliably. But being essentially tied for largest screen in the state and having no postage-sized stamps screens in any theater it’s about as good as it gets for NJ I think (although CA and some other areas can easily put it to shame).

(Largest screen in the nation is in NYC Lincoln Square but it’s kind of a nightmare to go into NYC just for a movie.)
