The Bijou closed its location in the Iowa Student Union building at the end of summer 2013. It now offers programming in conjunction with FilmScene in downtown Iowa City, which opened in fall of 2013.

The 1929 date may be when this theatre became the Capitol. A Victoria Theatre is listed at 47 E Main St. in the 1922-23 city directory.

The theatre is reopening on May 23, 2014 as the Apple Cinemas Waterbury 10. It will be operated by the same people who run the Apple Cinemas in Cambridge, Mass.

Shouldn’t this be listed as closed and demolished since, while the old Paramount was at one time a movie theatre it is now totally gone, and the new Paramount has never been a movie theatre?
