Was In Birmingham. Capitol and Plaza Stockand Green..
and the last one.. Savoy Theatre Monmouth… Monmouth I retired 2007 Family had Theatre – Cinema Interests from 1890’s onwards.. Based in Walsall..
I seen the interior of Cinema After the Arrest of Peter Moore.. I had the Job of retrieving all the Film Prints for the film renters from all of MOORES cinemas. All it need was a Westrex Tower and it could have opened.. But I think it would have been a total waste of time doing so… I had considered Holyhead but this was to g=far from my other Cinema Interests
Under the current Act of Parliment there needs only to be one entrance into the Projection Box.. Providing the Cinema do’s not show a nitrate print.. I had a Disagreement with a Birmingham Fire Officer over this point. So I got the Home Office Technical man up to deal with it.. The Fire office told him he was wrong.. Great Fun happened.. Fun to watch.. Fire officer left with is tail between his legs :o)
The Wartime repair was a very spartan… I remember seeing the interior in 1968 when I did Reliefs at the Regal. The Chief Projectionist at the Regal Had been the last manager of the Adelpi
I was told by a high up Rank contact I dealt with regular. That there is or was an interesting conditon on the lease from the Freeholders. That a number of Seats had to be on permenantly reserved for them…
