Coudersports is also known for the name, Eliot Ness. He lived the last 2 years of his life there. A book entitled Eliot Ness The Real Story was written by Paul Heimel. Paul was born and raised in the small town. He also helped write the history of the theatre on their website.
Classic example of a small town theatre treasure. Thank you John Regis.
Most major cities have made terrible theatre decisions.
Any updated information would be greatly appreciated. Is the Vocal Hall of Fame Foundation and Tony Butala still involved? Today I reached out to him via FB.
Is this theatre finally restored and reopened? Thought Sharon PA resident,Tony .. of The Letterman was launching the effort.
At least it re-opened.
Still hoping to see a photo of this theatre. Hard to believe that scenic Chagrin Falls once had a neighborhood theatre that the residents have let be lost to the ages.
I have visited this theatre and met the owner though don’t think I still have his email address.
I an trying to post the article. Sent the theatre a message on their FB page.
Can’t see the article unless you subscribe to the Buffalo News. If you can post it, thanks.
I can’t find anything about the organ on the stateofithaca link.
The late actor,John Ritter of Three’s Company was married to his second wife at the Murphy.
The Palmer Opera House is not the former Cuba Theatre which was the Peerless.
Very nice find!!
This light fixture doesn’t look familiar..too ornate for the art deco interior.
Will be coming to Owego to see friends and see the Tioga Theatre.
This theatre with art deco lobby should be saved.
Not good news. This theatre has the original half moon designed glass doors. Please save this cinema treasure by forming a Friends of the West Shore.
Gone, but never forgotten.
Interesting to read about the Robins Theatre in Warren Ohio and their Robins Project.
Short sighted politicians cost the area a beautifully restored Oriental due to parking issues? Shame.
I suppose they are. Love the humor.
