I found out a little more info about this place. It shows first run movies at very affordable prices. For instance, the week of 5/23, Troy is playing and all seats for all shows are $5! Unfortunately, the recording at 805-772-2444 gives no info about the theatre itself other than the location. I still can’t find any pictures of the place online. Anybody out there with more details?

This theatre is a bit run down, but seems to be doing very well. I went to see a midnight showing of “Donnie Darko” (my favorite movie) and there must have been over 400 people there. It was great so see so many people enjoying the movie and, of course, the Rialto itself. I was disapointed to find the balcony closed, but at least it hasn’t been chopped up yet.

The website link took me to Disneystore.com. This one should work better: http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/el_capitan/

I also saw “The Lion King” here in ‘94 and even though I was only 11, I was awed by this theatre. The sound, in particular, was phenomenal! The floor shook with each step the elephants took. A beautiful and well run palace!

Saw a concert here the other night. Really cool looking from the outside, not so much from the inside. But it’s a great place to see a rock show, the acoustics are fantastic!

Just went to the Lido for the first tiime 2 nights ago. What a great theatre! We sat in the balcony, giving a great view of the BIG screen. The seats on the main floor must be the most comfortable I’ve ever sat in. They are like rocking chairs…

The walls are painted with a simple underwater motif that glows under the blacklights in the middle of the cieling. It is in pristine condition! It is in a very nice area as well, with a cool diner next door. They seem to play nothing but wierd art-house type movies, but it would be a fantastic place to see a big summer blockbuster.

What a theatre! I saw 2 of the Lord of the Rings movies in the dome and was in awe! The surrounding theatres are fantastic as well, and prices are less than what I had heard beforehand. The Cinerama screenn is magnificent!

The Bay is always a joy to visit. It is rather small and unimpressive, but the films and presentation are always first rate. I encourage anyone in the area to pay a visit to see one of the classic films here. I have seen The Shining, The Exorcist, Citizen Kane, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and others at the bay and it is always a great evening. Main St. Seal Beach has a wonderful small town feel and has numerous bars and restaurants to visit before or after the movie. Please support this theatre! I have been many times when the screenings have only been attended by 10-15 people. It would be a shame if it closed!

I highly encourage everyone in Southern California to support this theatre! I attended the recent screening of “The Princess Bride” and was awed by the beauty of the interior. The inside is not in the best shape, but that gives it more character in my opinion. The presentation is quite good, although the sound could be a bit better. It seats 1500 people inicluding a balcony that is currently closed for repairs. The recent screening was fairly well attended (300-400 people would be my guess). Please visit the Web site and make plans to attend one of their classic or foriegn film screenings. You will be very glad you did!

Also, Moviemanforever, the area surrounding the Warner Grand seemed a bit run down, but fairly clean and safe to me. It is located on 6th street a few blocks from the Ports o' Call shopping center. Most of the shops on 6th were closed, but looked nice, and a number of small restaurants were doing booming business. Parking was available at extremely low cost just steps from the theatre.

Again, this theatre is an absolute joy to visit!
