I can still remember the smell inside..
my cousin,ray who has since died did go in the old theatres and snap some pictures for me,but he never got them to me,began ill..
I have pictures of the drive in after it closed..
there was another theatre in NEWPORT away from town because I remember TROG playing there,sorta away from downtown, but not way out like the drive ins..
it was a sorry theatre from what I could see,,i guess they drive to Knoxville for movies..lots of folks live there..
I don’t know…
you can barely see the screen now and believe or not the screen is in great shape..
might be open for another year, but not much longer…sad thing is,it makes money for second run..

doing was remodeling near the cinemas,trying to bring that place back life after all the big box stores moved..
well I thought NORTH AUGUSTA was really unscreened….
SOUTHGATE and SOUTHSIDE CINEMAS now have a facebook page..
Sad news, it looks like the Augusta NATIONAL has bought the land the shopping center is setting on.MASTERS CINEMAS days are numbered..

INSIDE work is of a gutted building,,
it was still standing I am pretty sure in the early 90’s.looks like they were using for local ballets and such.

so true,,when they sold the HILLTOP DRIVE in NORTH AUGUSTA SC,the DM tok an ax and tore the booth apart, guess that is the way they ran things..i remember it..
