at this link[/url]. This really messes up the proportions as you have the long name with a huge blank space in the center.
The place will always be known as the State to me, never by this ridiculus name!
Another one lost. Fellow friend of mine, johnlatuer reports a fire that appears to have destoryed the theater. A shame this is because it appeared intact from the exterior.
Time may be running out for the old gal, as the adjoining Fine Arts is set to come down anytime soon, as demolition was approved.
This means that the Adams lobby will go, and presumed skywalk & tunnel will be sealed up, essentially leaving the auditorium, to meet her fate sometime in the feature.
I have probable cause to call you out on this urbanremains. Defamation this, defamation that, I am not trying to give you a bad name, I am merely pointing out that you have a piece of a building that was never allowed to be salavaged legally.
Stop dodging the issue at hand, and tell me more of how you and the other company aquired the piece. It’s all about being a good business.
These personal attacks show your unprofessionalism. I simply point out that a plaster has been wrongfully taken, and you search out my entire online activity for defamation. What have I done to save a building? Lets see, off the top of my head, I am in 3 preservation groups, have been on the team nominating downtown Detroit for the 11 most endangered historic places (in which it was successful on the list), created a website and petition to save a hotel, preservation via documenting interiors before they are demolished, and just now I am trying to save an historic theater in the town of Gary that has been raped of her interior lobby plaster.
Please tell me how stealing plaster from a theater illegally is preservation in your eyes.

I can only go on the facts here, that the above plaster was from the Palace, which is not set to come down at all, and thus has never been in the position where it was allowed to be legally salvaged.
This mentality of getting from a reputable dealer is a bad excuse. I remember in Detroit that the Lee Plaza Hotel had beautiful terra-cotta lions illegally stolen out, sold to a architectural salvage company, and many were later put on a new condo project in Chicago. The owner was shocked to find out that they were pillaged.
Your comopany shouldinvestigate things before allowing yourselfs to sell the plaster and later attacking me by leaving harmful comments on this website and on my own. All I can do is provide the facts. If you want to continue this matter, email me before trying to out me as a bad character.
This urban salvage company is running a very bad & shady business.

This company should be charged for theft. I have seen this happen with too many buildings in Detroit that have had details stolen to be found at salvage shops. Get the Indiana Historical Society on the case…
The theater is pretty much doomed no matter what happens to the property because Ilitch is marketing only the Fine Arts and not the adjoining Adams. Why? Because he don’t wan’t any competition for the fox, same story with the United Artists, it will most likely go no matter what also.
In addiition to the theater being doomed, I ahve my doubts on the Fine Arts Building as well. The whole thing is collapsing inwards, the structural support system of the building is severly damaged, I doubt it is fixable. They announced a structural analysis of the building back in January, I sure hope it is going well. I want teh unique facade saved if anything.doubt if it

Nice photos, looked like someone climbed on the wreckage! I would have done the same, and I have for some demolished buildings.
I sure hope you grabbed those sheilds and capitol to save. They are heavy I’m sure, but could be cut down and look great cast in a new building.
What a loss. The theater may not have been salvageable but the facade can and should have been saved for future development.
The graceful arches should have been taken off and preserved at the least. They appear to be pristine.

I would rather have them re-open our Showcase Dearborn then this stupid arcade crap in Ann Arbor.
Interior cleaning and work has been takeing place since the summer, rumor is a dinner theater will be coming.
One can only hope, though the interior will never be how the national was if it were to take place, or at least I don’t think it will be.
