It was known as the Olympia until at least 1982. As I recall it was renamed the Roxy when it became a Landmark Theater along with the Towne and the Savoy.

The (now demolished) White Spot was on the 500 block of W. Georgia, not the site of the Strand.

That White Spot was once “Scott’s Cafe” into the early ‘80s

The offices first appear in the 1915 Vancouver City directory.

Studio/Eve/Lyric/Towne/Studio/Paradise/Tonic/Joe' Apartment.

Caligula was the first movie when the name changed to Towne. I uploaded a Vancouver Sun clipping.

March 1963, the Odeon opened with Lawrence of Arabia. I didn’t attend, but did make a point of attending the first matinee at the Plaza in 1988. Lawrence of Arabia 6 or was it Police Academy 6?
