On that photo, I can see Black Hawk Down playing on theatre 1,(Why did I have to see BHD at Ford City?) and Big Fat Liar on 3. I can’t make out what’s playing on 2.

Thanks for the photo, but I was looking for one before Cineplex Odeon took over. Maybe I’ll search though some Microfilm.

Thanks Paul. If I make it, I plan to put new padding in the seats, a cafe like eating area, two for the price of one movie specials, one second run film on one of the screens, a cry room for parents with babies, classic film festivals, movie premiers, and a cinema de lux style seating in the evening with non alcoholic drinks such as beer, wine and other stuff etc… I think I might make it with this. And if I do, I also plan to turn Oakbrook 1-4 into a luxury art house like this.

Say, do you have any suggestions for a theater corp name? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone have any pictures of this place before CO bought it? And who owns the theatre space now? I’m getting my theatre corp off the ground very soon and I’d like to turn it into an art house with some first run movies on occasion.

Sorry about the spelling there. What I ment to say was, is Village reopening 7-8 and 9-10 with 1-6? Or will it be just 1-6?

YES! It’s being reopened by Village Theatres. I don’t know if 7-8 and 9-10 is with it.

Tnanks, jimpiscitelli. I’ll look into it.

With any luck, Oakbrook 1-4 may become an art-house later this year or early next year.

I’m looking to start a theatre corp very very soon, and I’d like to know how much it would cost to buy the mall theatres? I would remodel and expand the 4 screener to 7-8 screens, and make it an art-house.

Yeah, I remember that carpet at Burnham Plaza and McClurg Court. I was going to go to the Biograph a few years ago, but it never happened.

CinemarkFan commented about Evergreen Theater on Feb 14, 2006 at 8:01 am

Grand opening was June 26th, 1964 with two screens. They later cut up one of the screens to make it a triplex. Between 1982-1983, they cut up another one of the other screens to make it a quadplex. I’ve only seen 8 movies here and I remember them well. Jurassic Park, Hard Target, Pulp Fiction, Hideaway, Kiss of Death, Under Siege 2: Dark Territory, Vampire in Brooklyn, and the last movie I saw here, Waiting to Exhale. it closed a little after June 1999. It was torn down not long after. The parking spaces under the theatre remains.

Does anyone have any pictures of this place? Exterior, interior
etc… My older brothers would love to see them. They saw almost over 80 films here. If I get my theatre corp off the ground soon,
I’m going to try and build a theatre back at the mall. I miss this place so much.

Some movies I saw it RO 7-8: Most Wanted, The Art of War, The Score, What Lies Beneath. Some more movies I saw at 1-6: Primal Fear, L.A. Confidential, Tomorrow Never Dies, The Thin Red Line, American Pie, Spy Kids, Swordfish, Kiss of the Dragon, From Hell, and of course, The Forgotten was my last movie at 1-6. 1988-2006, RIP.

CinemarkFan commented about River Oaks 6 on Feb 9, 2006 at 5:24 pm

Ok, I’m 15 so the first movie I saw here was The Shadow in 1994. My two older brothers saw Rapid Fire here in 1992. The last film I saw here was The Forgotten in 2004. It’s a shame it’s closed, somebody like Classic Cinemas could’ve picked it up. Recently, I’ve heard rumors that a new megaplex was supposed to be built in the mall. In fact, read this: http://www.calumetcity.org/deptdir/comdev04.html

Can anyone else name a few movies they’ve seen at River Oaks? If I ask my dad, he’ll give me a full day’s list.

I don’t know what happened to this place, but this opened waaay before 1984. I have a microfilm ad for june 1979 and it’s listed as Essaness Foxfield 1,2,3. If it’s still vacant, I could turn it into a 2nd run house.

Was Chestnut Station demolished?

If I can get my theatre corp off the ground by 2007-2008, I’d like to turn McClurg Court and Oakbrook Center into art houses. And in the future, I’d like to buy Village Theatres.

CinemarkFan commented about Cine Lounge at Niles on Feb 8, 2006 at 7:45 pm

There was a time in August of 1986 when Plitt had it. The theatre directory had it saying, Plitt/Essaness Theatres. Now that you said CO renovated Golf Glen a little, did CO ever do the same for Chestnut Station? My brother only went there once to see Predator. He said something about that place having gray carpets with black stripes on it, and the theatres themselves having the CO decor, the zig-zag stuff on the auditorium walls like at Burnham Plaza, or Lincoln Village 1-6. Can anyone elaborate on this?

Regarding Glen, I think it might be divided into retail. And, me and my dad plan to check out the new Showplace at Golf Mill when it opens. Let’s hope they play homage to the old 4 plex somehow.

CinemarkFan commented about Cine Lounge at Niles on Feb 6, 2006 at 12:23 pm

I’m putting the finshing touches on it now. It’s a part of my school project. After Essaness, I’ll do M&R, General Cinema, Plitt, Cineplex Odeon etc… It’s about the difference between moviegoing now and moviegoing before I was born. I’m trying to start a theatre corp someday and I’d like to pay tribute to them somehow.

This theatre has nine screens. 3 on one floor, 4-5 on another floor, 6-7 on another, and 8-9 on next and final floor. Once operated by Cineplex Odeon, this became a Loews Cineplex in 1998. Loews remodeled it in 2004 with new seats, interior etc… This is now known as AMC Loews 600 North Michigan.
