This picture is surreal. So far every new AMC I’ve seen taken over by another company has had the AMC remodeled right out of it. Strange to see the AMC carpet and tile with the Cineplex logo.
This is not a picture of the Showplace 3. This is a picture of any number of Century Theatres. Judging by the Carpet it looks like the Century 16 in Union Heights, UT. (Only Century location to receive that carpet).
I was just at this mall tonight and took a picture of the boarded up space where the theatre used to be. After peering through the cracks in the boarding, it looks like the theatre has been partially gutted and is being used for storage.
Now comes the ever lasting debate of whether the name should be changed on the site or not. The building just says AMC, but the advertisements still say AMC Loews… what to do…?
Interesting that ACT III had acquired it before Cineplex Odeon ever opened it. I had always assumed that ACT III had acquired this after Lloyd Center 10 opened and made it not-profitable.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette announced today that this location would be closing after business on 5/14/15. Sad. No more Showcases in Pittsburgh.
Operations ceased at this theatre at the end of business on Sunday 5/10/15.

Was this built by Riseman Architects? The picture is so GCC.

REG closed this location after business on 3/19/15
Very interesting. I often wondered how far UA took these bland-plexes. (Though I’d love to see a movie at one right now…)
Does anybody know if this was ever a Martin theatre? (It screams that it was)
If it was renamed when UA took over — who built it? Gulf States?

I’m sure National Amusements owns this property. I can’t imagine they don’t.
Awww poor ticket booth. I wonder if it ever gets used.
Lovely photo…
Interesting how it bears such close resemblance to the Lark, Park, and Noyo theatres but with twice as tall a tower.
Actually, Century is operated by Cinemark.
Opened by Edwards Cinemas… not UltraStar. Did UltraStar ever build anything themselves? Maybe the Surprise 12 in AZ?
NCG Cinemas appears to have reopened this theatre.
This closed November 4, 2014.
This photo is not of the Ridge Plaza. Ridge Plaza was an AMC build and that is clearly a GCC behind that sign.
Why the space between the snack bar and candy? Just wanna make it easier to steal?
The AMC Westgate 20 in Glendale, AZ looks similar, and was another Loews started, AMC finished location.
Scheduled to close at end of business 10/26/14.
This theatre was named after the CEO of Cinemark’s wife, Tandy Mitchell. I wonder if its closing will sting just a little bit more than any other.
Opened 11/12/1999. Cinemark took over October 6, 2006.
