Paul Jones: It sounds like you are in Erie. I’m not far and always jump at the chance to visit the beautiful Warner which has never closed in its long history in Erie.
I don’t have a definitive answer to your question, but will be anxious to read the answer by some fellow CT member. I know the answer has to be out there somewhere. One of my favorite theatres is RCMH. I was in the lobby once, but didn’t take the tour which I regret to this day!
Merrie: I have yet to meet with one of the men who worked at the WG, but hope to this summer. His name escapes me at the moment, but when I look it up in my theatre file I will let you know via personal email. Again, thanks for becoming a member of CT. Your memories of the WG and it being your “second home” will be a welcome dialogue.
Chuck: I’ve seen this former cinema and the last I knew it was going to be some sort of art venue/gallery. If I find the website for this concept, I will email. A NC artist friend of mine might know the current status, too.
Thanks go to someone named Ralph for putting this NBC Nightly News movie video on CT. I had heard about the broadcast, but thought I had missed it until now! BTW, I plan to forward this link to my former hometown Mayor Carr who once told me he wished his town still had the Grand Theatre!
Go to www.wqln.com and click on “radio” then “Weekend All Things Erie” to hear a great interview by Kim Young with Barb Hauck who wrote a book about the Warner Theatre in Erie PA. The link below will take you to the book site and allow you to order.
Granada: Thanks for the updated information on this theatre. It would be grand if this theatre could be restored for future generations and for those of us who recall the older art deco theatres when they were new and vital to so many communities. My former hometown theatre was art deco and I miss it every day.
I just learned of this venue after researching Conneaut Lake Park…have interest not only in theatres, but amusement parks, too. Please go to www.conneautlakepark.com and sign up for free to vote for the restoration of their wooden roller coaster, the Blue Streak through the Pepsi Refresh Everything project. The Blue Streak is one of only 2 left in the country like it….the other one is somewhere in Colorado! Thanks so very much!!
Chuck: What a wonderful photo. The sky was so blue that day! Thanks for posting!

J Paul: Congrats and continued success!
Irv: You being in FL should venture out towards Arcadia and check out this former theatre, in person!
Irv: The cinematour photos are quite interesting. Any chance it will return to being a cinema?

I received 2 CT notices tonight…one was the Garden Theatre in Winter Garden FL and the other was the former Winter Garden Theatre in Jamestown NY.

Merrie: Thanks for your personal email and it is wonderful to have you aboard! Welcome!
I’ve visited this theatre and it is a must-see when in Lakeland FL.
The site with artist’s rendering is posted with a Jan 11, 2010 comment.

Irv: Great post!
I would love to see a photo of this theatre by someone/anyone since longtime dedicated CT member, Lost Memory isn’t around to provide it. Thanks.
The home page for CT has the video posted by Ross Melnick about the Roxy and the folks of Langdon ND who love their main street theatre!

The exterior is a material called Vitrolite.
tisloews: Glad you liked the video posted by Lost Memory who, btw, is no longer a contributing CT member and our great loss!
RickB: A CT friend of mine just sent me the article….very nice.
If a church owns this former theatre, I hope it doesn’t look like the photo!
My friends who live in Youngsville have now given me a photo of this former Blatt Bros. theatre.
