Wow!

Thanks for the link, that is incredible.

It’s too bad they have to try and make a profit though, it should be public domain. If only i had the money, I’d show everyone here those amazing videos.

It would take away from the experience if they went digital.

It’s different then at a theater, because you look behind you to see it projecting, in the open air to a screen. To me it’s always been something neat and cool to drive-ins

More activity unfolds, appears the curving awning is being removed

Looks like I get to see my faces and towers cleaaned after all.

Over the past month or so they’ve been doing more work. Looks like it’s being performed by ChezCore.

The whole facade, top-to-bottom including the golden crown of the towers is clean! Now if only the terra-cotta could be repaired, parts repainted, the light bulbs replaced, we could have an alive National.

I believe this is the marquee to the Orpheum you see in the new Coke commercial.

Indeed you are correct. I forgot to correct myself on that, I confused the spotlights with the projectors (spotlights remain).

Not too much of what you stated remains, or at least from what I remember seeing (didn’t get many good pics up there)

The Michigan coming back is a pipe-dream indeed, but I sure dream of a day where my favorite ruin is restored, heh.

DYes is joke, it’s overrated, full of flames and uneducated mass at large.

Here’s what is set to take place now at Block 37:
http://www.108northstate.com

It appears to have stalled though as there has been no news since 2005 and the only change noted at the site is the movement of earth.

As stated, there is work going on at the site. Though I don’t know for how long, the sidewalk has a shelter running along the side and the land has been unearthed.

I think if the money could be pulled together, the space could have a use and a parking garage built on the vacant lot next door (owned by the name owner), and a car elevator type would be best.

Chunks of plaster fall occasionally, but the plaster is fine as it is heavier when first installed because of being wet (water content). The owner keeps the roof somewhat maintained, so it isn’t much to worry about. The SW corner of the building has suffered GREATLY from water damage due to a leaky roof. I find the corner is still need of roof repair, as water is constantly flowing down from the projection booth down.

/theaters/2609/ Maybe what your looking for, designed by the man who did the World Trade Centers.

Could use help. I could get you contact info for the city (who is listing it) if you want it.

The badly composed website at the link most recently posted blames the closure on the Hudson’s closure. This is incorrect. This was due to the declining of the area with the crime (articles posted about) ultimately closing it.

Much of the information at the above link is outdated, and the forum is nothing but a zoo.

Ilitch & Co took off those ugly tiles over the entrance to the Fine Arts this week, exposing the original stone. They sandblasted it all, making it appear brand new and original. Only thing is, the keystone originally protruded out as kind of a scroll and it was cut off when the panels were placed, so the keystone appears rough and odd. I hope the building facade is saved at the least (the interior is ROUGH), and the keystone is recreated.

Yes, the Michigan located in Detroit. (I usually don’t say the city if a theater is located in Detroit.)

sdoerr commented about Powell Symphony Hall on Mar 17, 2006 at 8:20 pm

Powell Hall is said to be a twin of the Michigan. I find the lobbies to be very similar, but the auditorium of the Michigan appears more like the Rialto Square.

The Chopin maybe gone now, that is if it is the International Beginning Ministries. I just drove by the building an hour ago and a huge hole has been knocked onto the side that is shown in the photo, most likely means demolition is occurring to the building

I have just acquired a set of blueprints from 1979 for the added screen by Wiltse. In the set is 7 sheets, containing things for the expansion, such as floorplans, elevations, roof framing plans, containing much hand written note and sketches.
