My little local theater in downtown Asheville,NC the Fine Arts still uses curtains in bothe theaters. The downstairs theater has curtains that rise up and the upstairs balcony theater has curtains that open across.
Just went to Regal’s web site and the theater is not showing. Up Regal does have a multiplex in NewTown Square which is probably why they closed this theater. It’s about 10 miles away and in a much better area.
Bigjoe the thing was you are so involved in the movie that you don’t want to get up. I think i saw 2 people the whole time get up. I domiss the days of intermissions. Almosrt all of the big Christmas movies this year are way over 2 hours.
It was demolished to make way for Veterans stadium the Phillies/Eagle stadium shich has since been demolished. It had a huge screen. I remember in 1966 they were playing Elvis Pressley Girl Girls Girls.
I was looking at the ads in the Sunday times and couldn’t find it listed and thought it might have closed. That’s 2 UA theaters in the area Regal closed. A few months back the closed the US east 85. UGH :(
Information above needs to be corrected. It is not a twin it is a single screen theater and it has been open ever since I moved here which was 2004.It was a twin when it was the Merrimon Twin

SAD NEWS
It didn’t have an intermission here in Asheville NC either. I loved the movie but it was a long time to sit.
I saw La Cage Au Folles opening day there which ended up laying for over a year.
:(
Congradulations Longislandmovies on purchasing the theater.

Frank Theater chain has always been a low life chain and treats employees like crap. I worked briefly for them in the late 70’s in Atlantic City.
I agree Chuck. It’s the same as what used to be Lowes Astor PLaza in nYC is now under the Best Buy theater showing aka
Chuck do you live here in Asheville?

Wasn’t this also a GCC theater originally?
That screen looks awful small for 70mm presentaions.
It has been the home to the Tony awards for the past 2 years.
Above information needs to be corrected. This theater was a Datsun car dealership at least through 1983. I am not sure when the church moved in.
What a shame this was a great single screen neighborhood theater. :(
GReat I would hate to see the LOwes name go away. Regal has been good about keeping the United Artist theaters US and Edwrds Edwards.
Does the marqueee still say Lowes theaters or has AMC changed them?
To my knowledge Lincoln was not filmed in 70MM
Loved the original marquee that they had before the renovation.
