I just knew AMC would pull this crap. I hate this chain but not as much as I hate the Frank Theater chain who is the chain from hell. I was only in this theater once on a visit back to NYC and saw Jodi Foster in The Accused. I did always think the theater shuld have remained named the Tower East. MAybe Cinema City’s will take over sicne they operate the Paris and it is a single screen theater.
OMG Sinrise cinemas was a great independant chain for many years in Ft lauderdale. Now Frank theaters has taken them over. The are the low life of theater chains. This is really sad news.

I just saw your post from May. I rememebr the opening of the Hillsboro 8 in 1987. It was the most elegant theater in Tampa. They did play 2010 in 70mm and also The Mission and The Dresser on opening week for $1.00. The theater was elegant with purple drapes on the sides of the walls and over the screens of all 8 theaters. The curtains were one that rose up rather than side to side.
I went to HArrisburg 2 times between 1972 and 1974 anf there was a UA State theater right around the corner from the capital. By any chance is this the same theater. The first time I was there the theater had just closed the day before I got there and they were removing seats.
I Am glad another drive in is reopening. I woul dlike to suggest that you do something with the screen or add on to the exisitingone becuase to have a film that is in scope and have it off the screen and projected in the bushed sucks.
Cinebarre started this past weekend with second run movies. Admission is $3.00. It really saddens me because this was thier first theater and it was very popular for along time. Part of it is the mahagement’s fault beccause they did not show any of the blockbuster filsm this summer in 3-D. I know they lsot my business on Avitar and Alice In Wonderland. That was a really poor decesion and something they should rethink for the future.
The Regal Biltmore Grande stadium 15 is proibibly what hurt their business being just 4 miles down the interstae at the next exit even tough the sound is so loud that I refuse to attend that theater because it actually hurts your ears.

The showing I mentioned earlier were through Fathom events and they were charing $12.50.
Now if Raleigh and Durham NC could get new digital 70mm prints why couldn’t the famous Ziegfeld?

It conccerns me that they will clsoe the AMC Loews 72nd St in NYC becuase it is the only single screen house they operate there.

Now they can ruin NC like they did NJ. They ruined all the theaters in Atlantic City, Wildwood, and Cape May
All I know is the Franks got their hands on it and ruined it like everything else they touch.
