Wally: Thanks for the update as I will make note of the theatre address. When I was in Greenville over the winter I’m surprised that I didn’t see the Camelot as I’m always looking for a marquee which tells me a theatre is at a particular location. I wanted to see the beautiful tree lined street, visit Mast General and the waterfall area so may have been close and didn’t know it.

There will most certainly be a movie showing, although I don’t yet know the title. The Camelot is located next to old McCalister Square Mall in Greenville at the intersection of Laurens Road and Antrim Drive. Look forward to seeing you in October.

WallyFayssoux: Where is the Camelot Theater located in Greenville…near the box office address given above? I’ll be at the BMW plant over the weekend of October 15th for a car event called Euro Festival. I would like to see the Camelot while in town and would there be a production planned for that weekend?

Just confirmed it, tickets for the Star Wars shows at the Camelot theater go on sale at the box office (48 E. Antrim Drive Greenville 29607) at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Internet ticketing won’t be available for at least another week. Hope to see you all there!

Wally, I was excited to no end when I heard through local media that the Camelot was reopening. When it was renovated in 1995, I interviewed Andy Reynolds for an article that appeared in the Clemson University student newspaper. The entertainment editor and I went there for a meeting and tour with him the day before the opening, but he was out to lunch with corporate bigwigs so we took a self-guided tour and came away deeply impressed and hopeful. The Camelot (I hardly ever used the “Carmike 7” name) quickly became the favorite theater of my friends and family, and I routinely shunned more convenient cinemas in Seneca, Clemson and Anderson when there was something good playing in the THX auditorium. I was slightly disappointed that the 70mm capability of the projector in that room was never used, but everything was so good that there was no reason to complain.

I saw every previous Star Wars film (and plenty more) that played there, and I’ll definitely make the trip to see Revenge of the Sith at the Camelot as well. My friends and I already have midnight opening tickets to one of the 14-plexes in Anderson, but with this news I’m as excited about viewing #2 (and #1 with the missus) as much as the premiere.

Thank you for bringing this jewel back. I wish you much success, and I just might take you up on the offer of a tour.

Thank You and welove feedback, good or bad…. I can’t wait for you to get the oppportunity to see this equipment in action. The stuff is impressive just sitting in a box, I can only imagine what it will sound and look like when Star Wars is playing. See you at the Camelot next week and please stop in the office and say hello. – Wally

Thank you, thank you, thank you…Greenville needs this so bad. It’s a shame we already have SW tickets for midnight at Cherrydale. But we might try to check out the “new” place Thursday night! Good luck…I hope you guys are around for a long time.

This is great, Wally, which online ticket vendor are you going to use? I have been waiting for a theater to put in this type of system and finally someone has and in a great old place. I went to see Episode I there at the premier midnight showing years ago. The main screen is huge in comparison to most mulitplexes of today and sound system was great. All new equipment will only make it better. Is there a number for the theater, I would like to buy tickets as soon as I can.

Our 650+ seat THX main house features all digital sound and the only Digital Light Projector around. It will be a viewing experienced unmatched on the East coast. Come check us out! The main three houses will be opening May 19th with the remaining four screens opened shortly thereafter. New seats, new sound, new owners and a BARCO DLP that will blow you away. It will be worth the trip!

6482! That is the number of single screen theatres listed on Cinema Treasures!

If it was one of the best theatres in town, can’t it be again? First thing would be to return it to a single screen venue though!

If the Camelot is just closed, perhaps there is hope for this theatre in a college town and in a town that has alot to offer as the downtown area is alive and well!

I’m not that familiar with Greenville to know where any of these theatres were located, but would think they would have been in the downtown area.

Would like to know the address of this theatre? Was it in the quaint tree-lined downtown area?
