The website posted on 2/19/07 states that the Farman was dismantled and rebuilt between 1944 and 1945. The 1963 motion picture almanac has the Farman still open and operated by Kallet Theaters, Inc. My hunch is that the new Warsaw Cinema did replace the Farman, but not until some time in the sixties or later on.

From Paul Penner — I am the president of the board of trustees of WNY Performance Center, Inc., the new owner of the Warsaw Cinema. We are refitting the theater for live performance: Back to the Future! We will soon have a live web cam in operation and I will post that URL here. Does anyone have any contact information for Lynda Wilson Smith, the granddaughter of Oscar Glas. We have two murals of Glas' in the theater that we wish to restore.

This is from the Warsaw History organizations minutes of 11/13/07. They mean “marquees” instead of marquis, obviously, unless they’re going to have some noblemen stand around with billboards:

WARSAW CINEMA. Discussed Paul Penner’s possible purchase of the Warsaw Cinema. He intends to renovate for live performances and movies. The cinema renovations are expected to be completed by September of 08. Mr. Penner, however, has enthusiastically given permission to allow the July HWA festival to be advertised on the theater’s marquis.

That’s true. I hadn’t considered that.

I can’t come up with any showtimes on the internet. It looks like the theater is closed, at least for now.

I know the Warsaw Cinema was showing Transformers in Sept 07. I called the theatre the other day and the number was disconnected.

IS this wonderful theatre now closed?
