The Barn was a mixed use theatre which was part of he Dartington College of Performing Arts. Following the relocation of the college and subsequent closure of the Dartington site, the hall has had a more public remit.
Two further images of the Barn from 1991 here:
Derelict in 2007 – I think demolition came in 2008.
The Futurist was closed by Scarborough Borough Council – the decision of one man, not even the full council – on Sunday 5th January 2013 with a performance of The Hobbit II – The Desolation of Smaug.
They have been wanting to close the theatre for over a decade, looks like they may finally have got their wish.
A couple of images taken very shortly after closure in 1988

A photo from 1991 of the entrance to the Peoples Palace, the theatre itself was set back from the road and this passage lead to the theatre.

There seems to be a small problem at present clicking on a link. I was a little wary of mentioning it over the weekend as I have just installed a new security suite and thought that might be responsible, but I am pretty sure now that it is just the CT site. On the new theatres page for example clicking on the name used to take to that theatres details, now I have to use an easy workaround of clicking the link that appears on the map (as mentioned by RickB).
Also on the home page there are new theatres listed from 8th but on the new theatre page the newest entry is currently 5th Dec.

Things seem to have improved, when I visited in November 2013 there was no mustiness and the theatre appeared open and used with a mix of film and stage performances. There is a history of the theatre on their website which shows (undated) magazine scans of the design with a claimed opened date of 1936 for the apartments and 1937 for the the theatre. Photos here:–
