We have a 60s multiplex here called the Quo Vadis. Though it is modern, I consider it to be rather interesting. It’s in Westland Michigan across from a mall. I can find out the real estate company that is listing it for you if you’d like, let me know.

Something is definately going on. Several doors have been installed on Bagley & Clifford to allow contractors through.

The marquee shown in the photo above was dismantled and demolished earlier today.

Every user uses resources on the site.
I believe the biggest problem on the site is the stress on the database.

Every element on the site grabs data from the MySQL db, and in turn causes a slowdown. Limiting guests would work, but I don’t think it would be very inviting, which is what cinema treasures tries not to be.

Rumor has it that the UA will be torn down sometime this year. I’ve heard contractors have been in the building in the past month. Time will tell what will happen.

Scaffolding has been erected on the exterior for about a month.

He owners are tapping into a facade improvement grant.

It will be nice to see the facade all restored, hopefully.

Here’s a great shot of the Palace today

Really shows how far the place is beyond saving sadly

Indeed most would need to be recreated, the walls and the seating are gone.

The foyers, and lobby are pretty much all intact.

Currently just facade improvements to make it look nice for the super bowl. They have a grant to fix it up.

Look for something to happen when they get some investors.

It appears that the Six Mile Theater was nearly the same in style. Shame both are demolished

Works have been working hard on the building this past month.

Its coming along great, the first floor brick looks nice and they are currently doing the top.

Some light fixtures and seats from the Ambassador are now being used at the Gem here in Detroit. The took them in 1990.

Something to note (if not said already),

The only way the Fox auditorium differs from the one here in Detroit is that Detroit’s Fox has a support column at the South East end of the balcony. This was because Detroit’s Fox has an attached office building thus needed the extra support.

I have heard when the Fox in St.Louis opened, the photo in newspapers was actually the Fox in Detroit. They must have thought they looked the same, but that support column was there.

Also of note is that Wayne Amusements still owns and operates this drive-in, their only theater property. Mr. Shafer is still out doing the job, it’s great to see him carry on the legacy.

sdoerr commented about Theatre Cameos in "The Island" (2005) on Jul 22, 2005 at 12:43 pm

I should also add; they filmed some shots in the abandoned Michigan Central Station here, it’s the one with the fake angel statue added.

While filmed they burned up Detroit streets (burned asphalt), caused traffic problems, removed windows from Michigan Central Station, put really ugly graffiti on the Michigan Central Station, Statler Hotel, United Artists with the tag reading “Sash LA”, basically stating he came from LA to tag up Detroit… shame.

sdoerr commented about Theatre Cameos in "The Island" (2005) on Jul 22, 2005 at 12:38 pm

This is indeed true.

They filmed a cop chase in the Michigan and what appears to be a chopper falling next to the UA. I walked right onto the set in November without realizing it at first. I was curious as to why they blocked off Bagley and then I see a downed chopper and broken pieces ahahaha.

They also filmed around Detroit too on the streets. You can see where they forgot to edit out the Yzerman mural from what I heard.

IMO it’s a step in the right direction.

Wouldn’t mind trying this concept here in Detroit.
