James Fisher commented about Norwood Theatre on Nov 5, 2005 at 1:21 am

Norwood Cinema my second theatre i loved to run i was a manager in this Cinema for just under two yrs in 1987-1989 i had to prove i could make a go at running this cinema and showing a profit which i did in order for me to return home to the Union theatre, to reopen the theatre that had been closed for two yrs i enjoyed this cinema this had well beyond the walla all the orginal i wanted to be the one to redo this theatre and have fun! how ever money was the factor there so i moved on what i did for Norwood was removed 100 seats down stairs and
78 seat upstairs to allow for wheel chairs this cinema had some kinda power i sold the theatre out on March 1 1988 with three men and a babe and good morning vietnam a night from hell sorta speek i was the manger / projestionist and my other help had called in sick so i ran the whole show including conccession stand However thru my door pass the nicest people in the world MY Patrons time change and as i look back i miss the cinemas alot!Check out the A/c and heat units below the cinemas floors wow

James Fisher commented about Studio Cinema on Nov 5, 2005 at 1:02 am

The Belmont Studio is my third favorate Cinema to operat i was manger there in 1987-1989 then i went back home to Open the Union theatre i worked for the Samia realty dba Theatre Development Enterprizes Inc when i arrived at the Studio the conccession stand was falling apart and it still operated on 15 mins reels so i modenized it slightly not to alter the looks gave the Cinema an office and re built the conccession stand by hand. we even repainted the interrior, moving on to the projestion room i had decided to change over to hour long reels so we could go Manager/Operator just what i did sold out the cinema every Friday and saturday night and thru in some arty picture to mix the verity. magnuin P.I was even filmed on trapello Rd one other note Belmont waas and probably is stil a dry town no tollarent’s for alcholic’s i even rolled out the new carpets and added some wheel chair slot in the back trying to accommadate alli had the nices ladies there Ann and Noima,Sue
I do however miss the cinemas and would love to be back in the show busness sence of times

James Fisher commented about Bates Theatre on Nov 5, 2005 at 12:42 am

Just a tag info on Bates: i lived in Attleboro and worked @ the Union for many years from July 4 1976/ 1991. Only 9 then when i stated helping out, i recall alot of things Roxy Pichi talked about. How he started out and then he became the Assist Manager/Manager for the Bates til 1945 and in 1946 he transfered to operate the Union Theatre at age 22. Recalling alot of talk Roxy did as i grew up spending time in the Union Theatre with dreams of my own i know the Bates owned the Union The admissiont to the Bates was nothing like today a mere 10 cents lol and in 1946 it was just a quarter i know that Admission to the Union on Dec 23,1955 went to 65cents for adults and 30 cents for children only due to the Disneyrama (Walt Disney Cartoons)feel free to email me i my self have Managed 9 Theatre’s and three drive in’s now iam working for Disney wow!
