NOTICE THE CLASSIC TRIPLE marquee on the side of the GEorgia Theatre,,,it is used for broadway plays{CLASSIC} and such..both owned by GEORGIA THEATRES at one time…
Augusta lost a great showman May 21 2014. RAY HUTTO passed away, this man built his dream the SOUTHSIDE CINEMAS,,Ray, you loved Theatres, Film and westerns..
just added this theatre on Facebook, even though I never worked there a lot of locals were wanting it added, still wish I had more pictures of the theatre itself.

starting to have problem with gangs of teenagers, shooting a few weeks ago. Premiere of the JAMES BROWN Bio here, stars, glitz..
still pretty much the same as closing, not in bad section of town,,,,yet, no vandals..
I would say the 90’s, it was ruined..it was a big twin theatre, large screens, that was probably david hyatt you saw….
still standing after last report….

The whole mall was gutted… its just a big shell now, my cinemas in the dump.
Breaking ground on the 14 plex, MASTERS 7 days probably numbered, sad, Pity REGAL is running it.
Really in the city limits, held out until the late 70’s when Section 8 apts nearby pretty much closed it up…sad.
If you go to GENERAL CINEMA MEMORIES on FACEBOOK there is a nice video of the cinemas before they closed, the REGENCY TRIPLE is also shown there..
GREENWOOD brave, REGENCY TRIPLE is now on Facebook, plenty of ads, pictures and stories..

PITY the Downtown, or UPTOWN as you guys say, THEATRES were lost…a pity..
yep, very sad. the 20 plexes of the world pretty much help do them in and I think it stinks..
