Came upon a note I had scribbled when doing some online research. In 1940 there was a major and costly renovation in which the theater was to have been remodeled and redecorated, new seats, screen and marquee and the lobby was to have been enlarged.
Uploaded the image to which I referred to almost five years ago. Oh, well. The Crystal is furthest left in this group of buildings. If you really enlarge it you can actually see “crystal” across the façade. Picture shows a fire further down the row of buildings. Probably the eventual fate of the Crystal.
Photo of the Edwards as a garage; Edwards garage. Hence the name. And it’s the Main Street Garage meaning this picture was taken after the building had been moved from another part of town.

To offset the photo of the Freeport being demolished I’ve uploaded one during the construction phase.
Updated an exterior of the Grove to the east and the theater under construction in 1926. Still a lot to do. It didn’t open until 1928.
