The Nostalgia Factory
Site features over 41,000 original movie posters and related ephemera dating from the silent era through current releases. There is also a bi-weekly Poster News Bulletin which gives news of upcoming movie poster auctions and trade fairs. Site is run by Rudy Franchi, currently the entertainment memorabilia expert on the PBS series Antiques Roadshow. Back in the 1960s Mr. Franchi was program director (with the late Marshall Lewis) of the Bleecker Street Cinema in New York, one of this countries first revival houses.
North Theatre
Official site of the Historic North Theatre in Danville, Virginia built in the 1940’s. The North Theatre is currently under renovations and will soon open in 2005. Visit the site for pics of the renovations currently underway and future pics of the finished product.
Hal Doby's Atlanta Fox Theatre Tribute Pages
My name is Hal Doby. I was a 17-year volunteer veteran at the Atlanta Fox Theatre. I came on board as a volunteer doing restoration work on the theatre a year after it was saved from the wrecking ball. In the following years, I not only did restoration work, but clerical and event staff work there. I first started these pages in 1996 and have just recently put them through heavy revision and re-posted them at this site.
Theater Paintings
Link onto the Theater Project page to see a sample of the show I am doing for old movie theaters. All theaters that are still in existance are painted on site, with demolished ones paintied in the studio. I am traveling around the country painting these threasures before they are gone and providing brief histories with each.
