Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, a professional honorary organization of over 6,000 motion picture professionals, was founded to advance the arts and sciences of motion pictures; foster cooperation among creative leaders for cultural, educational and technological progress; recognize outstanding achievements; cooperate on technical research and improvement of methods and equipment; provide a common forum and meeting ground for various branches and crafts; represent the viewpoint of actual creators of the motion picture; and foster educational activities between the professional community and the public-at-large.

American Movie Palace Museum
The Theatre Historical Society of America’s American Movie Palace Museum is located on the second floor of the renovated 1920’s York Theatre, 152 N York St., Elmhurst, Illinois. It showcases artifacts, posters, programs, seats, blueprints and photographs from the great movie palaces built across the United States in the 1920’s. The THS American Movie Palace Museum is FREE and open Tuesday through Friday from 9am to 4pm. Donations are accepted. Weekend and evening open houses are occasionally scheduled. Call (630)782-1800 for details. Small group tours up to 20 people are also welcome by prior appointment. Suggested donation is $2.00 per person. PLEASE NOTE the Museum is not currently handicapped accessible.
American Museum of Theatrical Design
The American Museum of Theatrical Design is dedicated to the preservation of past and present themed theatres, architecture and allied craft. A registered State of California 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, The American Museum of Theatrical Design is currently requesting sponsorships and donations in support of the project.
American Theatre Architecture Archive
The American Theatre Architecture Archive is operated by Theatre Historical Society of America and located in its headquarters in renovated 1920’s York Theatre building in Elmhurst, Illinois. Business hours are Tuesday though Friday from 9AM to 4PM Central time. All on-site research is by PRIOR appointment. Please call at least 2 weeks in advance to schedule an appointment. The archives include photos, negatives, slides, clippings, programs, books, magazines and more on over 15,000 theatres of every type and allied subjects. The Archives are subject to research fees.
