I just recently found out that the metro plaza theatre was showing movies, i thought they had closed. I started going again this year. Ive only seen about 5 or so this year, so far. Tonight went and watched vantage point then fools gold. Fools gold was playing in the SDDS theatre and i was sad to hear distortion and poping sounds from the speakers. They should just disconect the 8 channel SDDS and run strictly the 5.1 or even the 3.1 because they arnt even recording that many movies anymore in the 8 channel SDDS format.
After the movie i went down and took a peek at the speakers and there are 2 large cabnets under the curtin and it sounds as if 1 or 2 of the drivers are just old and in need of replacement. Years and years of explosions and gun fire have just warn out the cones. Paper cone drivers wear out over time and im sure they are past their time.
Ide be willing to help out management finding replacement drivers for free just to see it fixed and in working condition. This is the best theatre in the place and it seems to be in the worst condition.
Im not talking replacing the whole system just replacing the speaker drivers that take the most abuse. These large bass speakers take a pounding in action movies now days. They will eventualy blow and could possibly take out the amps then your talking money.
