Not to be needlessly contrarian, but neither the cars, mailboxes, nor hairstyles in this photograph look 1939-vintage. I’d say mid-60s to mi-70s.

The movie on the marquee is “RATED R.” “On November 1, 1968, the modern movie rating system was born.” Conclusion: this picture was taken after 1968.
