DOCTOR DOLITTLE exclusive at the PARAMOUNT (now the EL Capitan)

Photo: CLIFF CARSON. Interesting how an important film like Doctor Dolittle would have only two screenings a day. The film was in it’s first run reserved seat 70mm engagement and only ran a 152 minutes. Shorter than many films today. It’s widely considered a box office failure but only because it cost so much. In reality its grosses were high and the film was in the top 20 box office successes of the year.

Interesting that a non-Disney film gets “top billing” on the El Cap’s homepage.

Hello-

why is it interesting the film only had 2 screenings
a day? roadshow films rarely had more than 2 screenings
a day regardless of the film’s length.
