The first cinema treasure to use the Dallas Theater nameplate was two blocks away from the Telenews/Dallas at 1301. The theater opened January 30, 1913 and appears to have closed December 15, 1913. It opened within an existing retail building for the purpose of showing multi-reel photoplays. But with photoplay houses, the Queen theater opening just a week later two blocks away along with the arrival of the Hippodrome just one block away, the Dallas wasn’t a long-term player in the fast-changing theater row in Dallas.
