July 20, 1944: Since You Went Away is given a gala New York opening at the prestigious Capitol Theatre in the summer of 1944. The Capitol Theatre was at 1645 Broadway, just north of Times Square. Ladders indicate that the workers are still putting up the various posters and special promotional art created just for this event. During this time, you got a live performance as well: Gene Krupa and his orchestra for this one.
