Johnson City’s first woman mayor, May Ross McDowell, pictured on the right, greeted Gwen Harold Terasaki, on the left, and actress Carol Baker, in the center, at the international premiere of “Bridge to the Sun”, held August 16th 1961, at Johnson City’s Majestic Theater. Mrs. Terasaki of Johnson City wrote an account of her World War II experiences as wife of a Japanese diplomat. Miss Baker played the role of Mrs. Terasaki in the motion picture version of the book.
