Mid 1980s sketch I did from a published vintage photo of the interior of the Fox, Richmond. There were a couple of different poses of such large figures, housed in circles along the auditorium sidewalls. In between swirled the usual Skouras era painted foliage, and around the proscenium was the standard collection of gilded swirls, surmounted by a shell-shaped flourish over the center of the curtain. The publication I got it from is the Theatre Historical Society 1987 Annual, “Skourasized for Showmanship,” which is still availabe from THS.
