This theatre is not going to reopen for quite a while. Probably sometime in 2005 at best. They recently razed the adjacent strip mall to build the restaurant component of the theatre. They have apparently completely gutted the inside of the theatre.
I remember visiting this cinema a number of times when it was a second run theatre. The only drawback here was parking. Hopefully, they find a way to overcome this when it reopens.
This is the only place in RI where you can see a movie for $1.99. The films run at this theatre for much longer than they do at the Showcase Cinemas throughout the state. And, as an added bonus, the concession stand is more affordable here.
This theatre later became the Limelight Cinemas. It was open for less than a year after that. It is currently part of the parking lot for Super Stop & Shop.
I remember seeing a variety of Disney films at this theatre. It had an inclined ramp for an entrance and a long hallway that ran along the back of the theatre to the restrooms. I specifically remember seeing “Mickey’s Christmas Carol” here, and the place was packed. Those were the good ol' days.
