I think by the time I moved to this area, the tri-plex was in place. Only memory…“Tucker, The Man and His Dream”, screen too darn small and my shoes sticking to the floor of what I’ve since called the “Berea Sticky Theater” (not a very comfy place to be).

The building is not empty now—a mega JoAnn Fabric store.

I saw “The Wizard of Oz” in this theater and remember jumping out of my seat when the witch appeared! I ran to the back of theater and cowered behind the ‘walls’ that divided the seated area from the concession area (which I just a had a perfect vision of!).

…can’t imagine all the films I enjoyed here. A darn shame it and the spirit of a neighborhood theater couldn’t survive.

While searching for a rare theater poster, I’ve come upon this! This area my childhood neighborhood (early 1950s). Memories of the Garden Theater were my father’s girlfriend/wicked stepmom-to-be, being a ticket seller. Can’t remember any films, but do remember ‘give-aways’ on stage.

(great site!)
