The Park’s website has now posted a few vintage photos, and a couple shots of the current interior.

I was nearby today and walked around the site. From across the street, one can observe the tall long roof of the former theatre rising behind the CVS facade. Clearly there was once an auditorium there. On the street behind Dyckman (Thayer) the building has a closed back entrance.

130-2 Dyckman St. is now a CVS drug store. Looked around inside and out – no trace of a theatre history remains.

IS 52 is still open.

In the 80s it played the Rocky Horror Show at midnight on weekends, with a couple of comic shorts as intro. The “Savannah” co-op now stands on the property.

Yes, that is the number posted on two large signs currently on the structure. There is an additional much smaller sign (“office for rent”) posted in one of the second floor windows with a cell number. It appears to be 347-276-6041. May be 6091.

My father used to tell me he was paid in the 1930s to play the clarinet on weekend evenings in front of the Valencia.

I was at the Park last weekend, and said hi to the current owner. In the lobby are framed advertisments from their 1944 new year’s eve show, 5 features for 44 cents. Yes, it’s only $3.50, and popcorn and drinks are a buck each. I’ve seen a few movies there, nice large screen, large auditorium.

The building appears vacant and for rent currently, at least what I believe was the Alden. The number on the for rent sign is 212 840- 9699. It’s the large red brick structure on the east side of 165th St. halfway down the block south of Jamaica Av.
