A non-profit foundation has been established to purchase and restore the Waynesboro Theatre. Construction is scheduled to begin August 2015 and the theatre is expected to reopen in October 2015. The theatre will be leased to the group that currently operates the Leitersburg Cinemas in Hagerstown, MD. There will be 208 luxurious high-back seats, state of the art projection and sound, and a completely renovated auditorium, snack bar and facility. Early indications are that the theatre will feature second run movies and perhaps some retro movies. The folks that operate the Leitersburg Cinemas are relatively new to motion picture operation. However, they have embraced the desires of patrons and in my opinion are among the best operators I have ever encountered.
