The cinema has been taken over by volunteers, who despite all the odds, reopened it and now run it as a thriving concern. There is a full programme of features both current and vintage, and the cinema is equipped for both 35mm film and digital presentations.

Visited Jan 16; the cinema is now closed and in use by a church.

Empty since 1996 and now in a parlous state, see above. The freehold for some years belonged to an American property company but I passed the building recently and it has now been adorned with an “Acquired for redevelopment by….” billboard so it has presumably been sold and demolition might be imminent. Not quite in a prime location, but does offer a good view of the adjacent Lidl and car park.

The Universal Church of the Kingdom of God has now sold Waltham Forest’s EMD (formerly Granada) Cinema site, including the adjacent pub (formerly the cinema cafe) and shops, to the Antic Pub Collective as of May 2015. It remains to be seen whether the building will reopen as a cinema, especially with a 9-screen multiplex having recently opened next door. One can hope though!
