Uploaded film scans from 1992(closed) and 1995(demolition). Last film I saw there was Escape From Alcatraz in 1979. The biggest problem with seeing movies at the Starlite was the light pollution from US 45, which I’m sure wasn’t an issue when it was built. It tended to wash out the screen, especially the back one. As AJD did I was able to salvage the neon “W” from the “Welcome” sign, but it was so thin and brittle that it eventually cracked. I still have the “S” from “CLOSED” on the entrance sign.
Uploaded pics from 2007. I had a friend who worked there and would show us movies after working 2nd shift on Thursday nights. Maybe it was you craiga? It was a great time- free popcorn, hot dogs and soda too. One time the movie he ran for us was right out of the shipping box- a pristine print! It might have been Gattaca but I could be wrong. If it was you craiga…thanks!
Uploaded pics from 2006. Very cool looking theater!
Uploaded film scans from 1993.
I uploaded some scans from my visit in 1992. I also uploaded two pics from 2009 to compare where the sign was, then using the fire hydrant as a reference, to compare where the entrance was. It’s no longer empty land.
I added some photo scans that I took in 1992.
