Quentin Tarantino did a great job with the recent remodel work inside the New Beverly Cinema. He only shows 35mm & 16mm movies on FILM! Nice masking that moves from the 1:37 cartoons they show then on to 1.85 flat for trailers of movies coming and If they have a scope 35mm film the masking goes out wide to 2.35. A rather small screen but the four movies I saw over 2 days last week were all 35mm prints in mono sound from the 1960’s, sounded like crisp stereo. I told the nice manager about how great the old 35mm mono sound sounded to me. I think he told me they use all 3 stage speakers but It sounded so clear with the treble very sharp. I will have to see a 4 track mag or Dolby® 35mm stereo print some day as they do have plenty of surround speakers down the side walls.
