A new projection room was built midway down the balcony many years ago. The portion of the balcony behind this new booth (seen here) was used for storage. The original projection booth can be seen at the back. It was concrete-lined with metal emergency panels that sealed the door and windows in case the highly flammable nitrate film based (used at the time the theatre was built) caught fire.
