Until Next Time.... for the "Enean"

posted by Jaime F Penuela on December 22, 2003 at 5:43am

PITTSBURG, CA — After months of plan checks and red tape, the Enean Theatre will reopen as an autoparts store. Maybe next time, next restoration, will be to bring it back.

Was the ENEAN ever called THE VOGUE in downtown Pittsburg?
Curious. I visited THE VOGUE over ten years ago and it was
operating as a discount movie house. Is it still there?
Does anyone have information about THE VOGUE in downtown Pittsburg CA??? Last operator was an independent older guy - he was the only
cinema in Pittsburg at the time ... early 90's.

The vogue theatre is now a church, located about 2 blocks from the Enean. They did a super job.

The Vogue theatre was a fantastic theatre in it's day, during the early 70's it started showing Blaxploitation Films and also showed Mexican movies to a dwindling audience, several attempts to jump-start it's once grand existence failed. In 1981 they re-opened for a while and I remember going to see 'The Blues Brothers' there.
It's current tenant, a church called; 'The Pentecostals', bought the entire building, removed the Vogue Signs and over the last few years removed all reminders of this once great theatre.
