I am referring to a clip comedian Steve Martin’s arrival at a typical old Fox Theatre with a “Scouracized” box office and Terrazzo outer lobby. It’s also an interesting way to plug the latest “Pink Panther” flick. I hope THIS one will be funny! Is it the Alex Theatre in Glendale, CA? YOUR COMMENTS It's not the Alex in Glendale. Do you know if there is anything published about this wonderful form of decoration which Fox redecorated so many of their theaters with? posted by Simon Overton on Jul 2, 2008 at 10:04am Simon, The Theatre Historical Society of America published in one of their yearly annuals back in 1987. Which featured that type of decorations that Fox West Coast Theatres used. It was titled "Skouras-ized for Showmanship: Skouras' West Coast Theatres" (annual #14-still available from their website) . posted by William on Jul 2, 2008 at 2:26pm I most heartily encourage anyone who likes the Skouras style to buy that Annual (1987) from Theatre Historical Society mentioned above. It's a wonderful documentation of the style, with many photos and fine analysis/written documentation.
