Photo courtesy of Western High School Yearbook class of 1966. This photo taken in 1967 by an unknown student shows the spot where the Stanley/Stanton once stood for 37 years from 1927-1965. The only two buildings remain were the little Theatre across the street and the Mayfair next door. About 30 years later in 1990 the little Theatre also met its demise after its last year’s of operation as a small X-Rated theater like the Apex Theatre (which is still standing today but no longer operates as a theater),it was demolished along with an entire block across from the Mayfair Theatre. And now today another parking lot stands across from the Mayfair and the former Western High School building now occupied by Chesapeake Commons Apartments and the Mayfair in terrible condition with no roof and crumbling very rapidly.
